EBACE PREVIEW Michael Reichnecker EBACE 2022 will be held at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland, with a static display at the nearby Geneva International Airport aircraft interior architect, Movation Q&A Less is more. Weight minimisation is a functional demand that sets the standard for materials, shapes and surfaces. Aircraft are an obvious source of carbon emissions. While propulsion technologies bear the brunt of addressing these issues, cabin construction and interior design will definitely need to chip in. WHAT AESTHETIC TRENDS HAVE YOU NOTICED LATELY? ACJ TwoTwenty orders For Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ), a key focus will be the ACJ TwoTwenty, the first of which was delivered to Comlux in early January 2022. The first all-new business jet has arrived at Comlux’s facilities in Indianapolis, USA, for the VVIP cabin completion. This first aircraft is expected to enter service with its owner, Five Hotels and Resorts, in early 2023. ACJ characterises the ACJ TwoTwenty as a new value proposition for business aviation buyers, available at the price of an ultra-long-range business jet. It can fly for over 12 hours, and offers 73m 2 (785ft 2 ) of floor space. The cabin features six wide VIP living areas, of around 12m 2 (130ft 2 ) each. Following the first delivery, ACJ has signed a purchase agreement with Azorra for two of the aircraft type. Azorra, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, is focused on executive, regional and mid-size (“crossover”) aircraft. In February 2022, K5-Aviation took delivery of its first ACJ330-300 aircraft from ACJ. K5-Aviation is the largest ACJ operator in Europe, and has four ACJ319s and one ACJ350-900 in its fleet. The ACJ330-300 will feature a 243m 2 (2,616ft 2 ) VIP cabin and a range in excess of 8,650 nautical miles (16,000km) or up to 18.5 hours, which is enough to fly non-stop from Europe to Australia. COVID has increased demand for easy disinfection of cabins. Movation’s Triple9 interior concept offers a solution for that. It is named for a 99.9% level of disinfection and thus provides greatly increased safety from germs on board. Triple9 includes a set of mostly lightweight and modular elements encompassing lining, lighting, flooring and furnishings, combined for better decontamination of surfaces and air. IS THE PANDEMIC IMPACTING CUSTOMER REQUESTS? Reduced physical contact has led to improvements in digital communication. The idea of the metaverse describes an even more seamless interaction between users than we have seen so far. If used correctly, huge gains in efficiency and productivity are possible for both aircraft passengers and designers. WHAT IFE TECHNOLOGIES ARE TRENDING? WILL THE METAVERSE TAKE OFF IN BUSINESS AVIATION? WILL THE POPULARITY OF NFT S IMPACT THE INDUSTRY? Absolutely! Monitors in varying sizes functioning as video frames can be a great way to display art in an aircraft. NFTs can also help secure intellectual property rights for designers. businessjetinteriorsinternational.com MARCH/APRIL 2022 033
